Your Warring Gear
WE'RE AT WAR.
HOSTILE.
KOV vs MC
^We're supporting KOV in this conflict.
Most likely turnout:
80 KOV vs 80 MC
^Includes all ally forces. We'd much prefer to outnumber them, make sure you're ready.

What you need to do:
1) Sort out a Skype account that you're willing to use for the war - you don't have to talk, just listen to calls. Add "katawwr".
2) If you have the level for Barrage, use it.If not, take a look at your stats. What's higher, range or mage? That's what you use.
3) Ontop of your main combat style (as decided in point 2), you'll need to bring a melee spec weapon. Claws > all. If you can't get them, sort out a lend/sell something.
4) DO NOT wear melee armour.

Re: Your Warring Gear
Gano is alright so long as you get a strong melee-def helm (bandos helm>verac>neitz).
Don't take poly. Chaotic staff > sol > runic
Definately arcane.
Boots: ragefire > inf
All depends how much money you have really. Though you could always borrow 1 expensive item
Ps. If Zaire gives you different advise on gear, listen to him over me lol

Re: Your Warring Gear
infinity + veracs are alright + relatively cheap
Also Arcane stream (it's a dung reward) is well worth it if you can get one (and free, ofcourse).
Almost forgot, AURAS. If you have spare loyalty points, they give you that extra edge.

Re: Your Warring Gear
I suppose I might aswell write this up.
Mage Gear:
Helm: Bandos > Torag/Verac > Farseer > Neitz
Body: Gano > Ahrim
Bottom: Gano > Ahrim
Weapon: Chaotic staff > Staff of Light > Runic +Claws
Shield: Arcane Spirit shield > Spectral > Blessed spirit shield > dragonfire shield
Cape: Fire > Guthix > skillcape
Boots: Ragefire > Bandos/infinity
Gloves: Culinaromancer;s gloves 10 > Barrows
Necklace: Arcane stream > Fury
Ring: Seer's
Aura: Dark magic > Invigorate (as high tier as possible) > Vampyrism > poison purge
Inventory:
~ Any gear swaps (Did i mention claws!?)
~ 3:1 ratio of brews to super restores - main bulk of your invent
(this means that for every 3 doses of brew you take, you should take 1 restore)
~ Overloads > Extremes > Super sets
Note: take 1 dose of a brew before contact with the opposition. This boosts your def and hp (no defence pots needed when brewing), AFTER this boost your stats.
~ If summoning is on, bring scrolls.
(your familiar should already be summoned)

Re: Your Warring Gear
Calls are simple:
FI = Fall in (follow the person calling)
(A)131 = This is the combat level of the person you should be killing, if hard to identify ask for a name.
Grid/1x1 = Move your character in to a gridding format so that you are 1 square away from ANY player. Mages should situate toward the back of the grid.
Split/break/spread = You'll most commonly be told do this after falling-in. You should split off toward the left/right spacing yourself from others (don't go too far forward or back though). Once you're spread out you'll be told to charge and so the group runs in together to meet the opposition but cannot be barraged.
RG NW = Regroup NorthWest - this'll be used if the group splits up too much. Just run that way till you see all your fwends.
Off = Stop attacking that noob and come back to the main group.
R = Run on (should always be on anyway!)
P = Pot now - all your stat boosts (may not be told when, if so do accordingly)
Pro (M/R) = Protect from magic (if un-specified, presume mage. You'll need to use Mage prayer for almost all the war - though in some circumstances you may want to change accordingly)
DD = means 'deathdot'. If called, stand on the spot that the caller is standing. (very unlikely to be used due to ancients, but just so you know).
[things in brackets may/may not be specified. Everyone calls differently, but they're all easy to identify.]
NOTE: It's extremely important and vital to the success of a war that you follow calls given and do so quickly. If you don't, you'll die.
Calls on Skype chat can be delivered faster and easier (the person calling will most likely be tanking, making it difficult to type). It's very beneficial if you get set up on Skype for this purpose. If not, calls will be repeated in chat too.

Re: Your Warring Gear
TIPS:
1) Auto-attack OFF.
2) When following a call first locate the target (the mass of people heading that way is usually a good indication of where the target is). Second, take a look at the hits you're taking, do you need to adjust your protection prayer? Thirdly, take a look at the target, if you have a combat-style swap, do so accordingly.
3) If you have a full spec bar use it. And on a tank if possible.
4) NEVER make your own target. NEVER follow a stray that's running - one of two things will happen: 1, you'll get lured into a team of the opposition and die instantly; 2, you'll get completely split from the group and die trying to get back into the main call.
5) If you find that you've been called as a target, first stabilize your LP (eatalot). Second, check you're praying right. Thirdly, run away from the main group (may cause some of the attackers to split off). Finally, find a wall and run around the side alternately - causing attackers to have to re-target you. Continue tanking until you do (yes, you will probably die). It's important that you try to tank though. Remember that while you're doing this there's 5/10 less people attacking the main group = good for us, they're wasting time and people!
6) DO NOT try and help someone who's been targeted by the opposition. You won't help. You'll waste your life. Direct yourself to the main call and mourn your friend later when you've avenged them.
^THESE ARE PRETTY DARN IMPORTANT
The more complicated stuff that'll save your life
Highly beneficial for you to learn (and practice) this, though not as important as all the above.
Function keys:
F1 - Opens inventory
F2 - Opens equipment selection
F3 - Opens prayer selection
F4 - Opens magic spellbook
F5 - Opens combat style
^Memorize these and it will only take a small amount of practice to vastly improve your reaction time in war.
Mouse keys:
Setting up mouse keys: Windows 7 / Vista / Xp / Mac = System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad
1-4,6-9 - Moves mouse (hold cntrl to move faster)
5 - Clicks mouse
+ - Double clicks
0 - Holds down mouse
. - Releases mouse
To activate mouse keys quickly, press Alt-Shift-Num (Windows), or Option five times (Mac).
^These take a lot of practice to be efficient for use in war. I'm putting them here but I wouldn't advise trying it if you haven't used them in war before.
